Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities - Participate in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns and veterinarians. - Participate in the provision of clinical pathology laboratory services to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and external clients. - Supervise and train technicians and students as required. - Demonstrate creative scholarship through independent and/or collaborative research and publish the results of research findings in reputable scientific and/or professional journals. - Submit research and/or contract proposals to intramural and extramural funding sources. - Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Head and Dean of the college. Qualifications - He/she should have the DVM or equivalent degree. - Completed a residency in Clinical Pathology. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists is highly desired. Board-eligible applicants will be considered. - The PhD degree highly desirable. - Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team environment. There were technical issues in getting a call out for the November DTF issue, but the window is now open! Dr. Donald McGavin and I review every submission and discuss each one in detail. For future submissions, we will also be providing feedback on each image so that the submitter can continue to improve their photographic skills. POSTED August 20, 2021 UNIVERSITY OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND ATLANTIC VETERINARY COLLEGE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES ELEVEN AND A HALF (11.5) MONTH TERM POSITION DIAGNOSTIC FISH PATHOLOGIST COMPETITION #31A21 The Diagnostic Services Laboratory, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applicants for a contract term position in fish pathology. This is a full-time, term contract position starting immediately for eleven and one-half months, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be working with and collaborating with the current diagnostic fish pathologist. The primary responsibility will be to perform and report on necropsy and histopathology examinations of fin-fish and shellfish samples submitted to the AVC Diagnostic Service Laboratory. The clients of this service include researchers, provincial and private aquaculture veterinarians in the four Atlantic Provinces as well as researchers and / or aquatic laboratories nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will consult with diagnostic services bacteriology, virology, clinical pathology, toxicology and parasitology units. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree and at least one year of experience in fish and shellfish pathology. Clinical aquaculture experience and ACVP board certification are assets, but board eligible individuals will be considered. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. In addition to our two wonderful editors Stephanie Shrader and Javier Asin, this month we welcome Dr Jeann Leal, our colleague and long term visual artist, to the editorial team of the DTF newsletter. Welcome Jeann. Amongst the many training opportunities offered by the Foundation in October, we are particularly proud to announce our first hybrid seminar, which started yesterday and will conclude today in Galveston, Texas with a great turn out both in person and virtually. This first-time hybrid seminar will be followed soon (October 23) by the symposium on Pathology of transboundary diseases, during the annual meeting of the AAVLD, which will also be held in a hybrid format.
