Job Opening, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, faculty veterinary anatomic pathologist

The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks a veterinary anatomic pathologist to join the faculty of the Department of Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology. He or she will join 4 ACVP-boarded anatomic pathology faculty and 6 post-doctoral pathology trainees to provide diagnostic and experimental pathology support for a wide variety of animal model-based research programs. The successful applicant will direct the comparative pathology service in support of JHU Research Animal Resources (RAR) and researchers at Johns Hopkins University campuses in Baltimore. The diagnostic pathology service provides necropsy and biopsy support to RAR for a wide variety of laboratory animal species, including rodents, nonhuman primates (SPF rhesus and pigtailed macaques, marmosets, and baboons), mini pigs, rabbits, dogs, ferrets, zebrafish, and amphibians. In this position, the faculty member will work closely with clinical laboratory animal veterinarians to coordinate communication and oversee diagnostic submissions. The successful applicant will also help direct our robust, longstanding anatomic and comparative pathology training program. The faculty member will provide experimental pathology support to JHU investigators. employing a wide range of translational animal models, including cutting edge vascularized composite allograft transplantation, novel interventional imaging, nanoparticle-mediated therapeutics, biomechanical implants, and infectious disease studies including those based in ABSL-3 facilities. He or she will closely collaborate with JHU investigators to contribute pathology expertise to multidisciplinary studies, applying innovative integrated molecular, digital, and computational pathology approaches. Independent research is also encouraged. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as teaching experience. Requirements include a license to practice veterinary medicine in the US. Applicants should have experience in laboratory animal diagnostic pathology, the ability to build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with investigators, and leadership experience. Preference will be given to candidates who hold ACVP or ECVP board certification in veterinary anatomic pathology and have completed PhD training. Virtual Northeast Vet Path Conference scheduled for Fri-Sat 17-18 2020

Following the great success of the virtual 2020 conference (rescheduled and held earlier this month), the date for the 2021 meeting is out and it is going to be *bigger, better, and hopefully more global *than ever! The 2021 meeting will be expanded to *2 FULL days* (which means *16 hours of RACE-*accredited CE for the same price of only *$50* - what a deal). This meeting will be focused on *pathology of the GI tract - the tube and pancreas* (no liver - that's another subject in itself for another meeting). Friday will focus on small animal GI, with *UGA Professor of Pathology Jesse Hostetter* giving our Friday Keynote on *Evaluating Endoscopic GI Biopsies* and being our expert commenter for the rest of the day, which will include small animal and non-avian exotic GI cases. On Saturday, Prof Paco Uzal will give a lecture on *large animal GI pathology* and be our commentator for large animal and poultry/avian cases. We now have *20 additional 10-minute slots for presenters *(in addition to those already reserved for our traditional presenters from the Joint Pathology Center, Cornell, UPenn, NCSU, and the National Zoo), and we are looking for presenters from around the world! The language for case presentation is in *English,* and all materials (glass slides and writeups) are due by *August 8th.* This year for the first time, We are also this year taking scanned slides as submissions in the following formats - *Aperio (.svs), Hamamatsu (.vms, .vmu, or .ndpi), Leica (.scn), MIRAX (.mrxs), Philips (.tiff), Sakura (.svslide), Trestle (.tif), Ventana (.bif or .tif), or generic tiled TIFF (.tif) format.* *Presenters will attend at no charge*, and attendees will receive two relaxing, informal and fun days of RACE-accredited CE for the incredibly low price of only $50. 2021 Descriptive Veterinary Pathology Course - Live seats going fast!

It's the third jewel in the Foundation's annual "Quadruple Crown" (yes, we are that special that we have a Quadruple Crown) - the Foundation's annual and sometimes several-times-an-annual Descriptive Veterinary Pathology Course. Our world-traveled team of Jey Koehler, Patty Pesavento, and Linden Craig are actually holding their breath until all 100 seats to the live session are filled (see, they are actually turning a bit purple, below) - although you can get access to the rebroadcasted lectures for a lesser price (but not the good bits like the graded exams and breakout sessions and the stuff they whisper under their breath (if they ever take one again!) This multimodal, interactive course is not to be missed! And it only comes around as often as we decide to put it on!

A new date will be announced as soon as possible. Dr. Arenas-Gamboa is an instructor at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. We are hopeful that she and all of our colleagues in College Station are safe and coping well with the problems ongoing with weather and electrical outages in Texas at the moment. Gross Path Review Course

Hot on the heels of our wildly successful Gen Path Review Course, comes the second installment - the Gross Path Review Course from 17-21 May. FIVE WHOLE DAYS of nothing but gross pathology.... As this course begins its evolution over the next few years, the pathology faculty of The Ohio State University (and a few visitors), will begin the transition from species-based instruction (the modus operandi of this course for over 40 years), to an all systems-based approach. This year, domestic species get a systems-based review and the non-traditional (laboratory and zoo/wildlife/exotic) will be reviewed on a species-based approach. As we did with Gen Path - all of the didactic lectures will be recorded and available for a period of 3 weeks afterwards, (for a reduced price), but only attendees to the live version can participate in realtime discussions, grill the instructors with their questions, and participate in the mock exam and grading discussion at the end of the course. And of course, participants in the live event have access to rebroadcast materials as well. Additional flyers with speakers and schedules are forthcoming, but let's give this one with course director Krista LaPerle over a field of gastric bots (now I'm all itchy) one more run....the attached PDF has all the info you will need for now and enough to guarantee you a seat....
