The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathobiology, Penn Vet Diagnostic Laboratory welcomes applications for a full time, Anatomic Pathologist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Academic Clinician track. The position involves an 80- 90% commitment to service activities in the Penn Vet Diagnostic Laboratory and a 10-20% commitment to teaching. Service responsibilities are shared among 4 other faculty pathologists who have expertise in surgical pathology along with neuropathology, oncologic pathology, and dermatopathology. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s training and experience. The search committee will begin considering applications immediately with a proposed start date as early as July 1, 2022. The diagnostic laboratory supports Penn Vet’s small animal veterinary hospital and practitioners from across the United States and territories. Our pathologists interpret approximately 12,000 biopsies and 400 autopsies annually. The majority of cases are submitted from specialty hospitals. The meeting is sponsored by COHA (which is the CTSA One Health Alliance), and CTSA stands for Clinical and Translational Science Award. The summit will feature both lectures from pathologists and clinicians, physicians and veterinarians. The goal is to have 40 to 50 attendees at this pre-meeting summit (both vets and physicians). There will be opportunities for abstract submission and online publication in the journal Glomerular Disease through Karger publications. I know this is late notice, since the meeting is in April, but I believe this will be an excellent networking and educational opportunity. Additionally, there will be discussions at round tables for planning future research projects that can improve the diagnostics and treatments of our veterinary patients, as well as educate physicians about the potential for using our cases as examples of spontaneous models of human glomerular diseases. Spine, schmine, it's all about the invertebrates!

If you are interested in the pathology of the animals who are brave enough to go through life without a spine, then don't miss the Invertebrate Pathology Conference! This 7-hour VIRTUAL online conference will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. This conference will feature the keynote lecture "Spineless: Pathology of the 97 Percent" by Dr. Elise LaDouceur, Chief of Extramural Projects and Research at the Joint Pathology Center. Following the keynote lecture, pathologists, residents, and veterinary students will give 15-minute presentations on their most interesting invertebrate pathology cases during an interactive virtual session via Zoom. If you wish to present a case, please email Elise LaDouceur (Elise.E.LaDouceur.civ(a)mail.mil) and Sarah Cudd (Sarah.K.Cudd.mil(a)mail.mil) with a brief description of the case (i.e. species and disease) by March 15th, 2022. Dear colleagues Attached is a document with a summary (and great photos!!!!) of diseases that occurred in the Eastern part of Uruguay, put together annually by Dr Fernando Dutra Quintela. Dr Quintela is an incredibly experienced and detailed-oriented pathologist, and a Latin American pathology legend!. He is currently the Head of the Laboratorio Regional Este de DILAVE “Miguel C Rubino”, Uruguay. Dr Quintela has been putting together this summary uninterruptedly for 12 years and although over the past few years we shared it with the Spanish speaking colleagues through the Latin Comparative Pathology Group, we decided that this jewel is simply “too good” not to share it with the rest of the world, so here you are.
