The department emphasizes training for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (parasitology), and graduate education (combined Residency/MS or PhD). Veterinary Pathology faculty link basic and clinical science through essential roles in teaching students (undergraduate, veterinary and graduate) and veterinarians; diagnosis and reporting of diseases; and scientific research, including infectious and emerging diseases, parasitic diseases of local and global impact, animal models of human disease, and diseases of high consequence to animal and human health through integrated education, diagnostics and research. Faculty frequently collaborate with colleagues at the USDA National Animal Disease Center and National Veterinary Services Laboratory, also located in Ames. *Veterinary Pathologist, Division of Comparative Medicine, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO* *9/1/21* This position is for a veterinary pathologist or laboratory animal veterinarian, responsible for provision of diagnostic pathology services, including anatomic and clinical pathology, histology, molecular pathology, and necropsy services. Consults with principal investigators regarding research protocols and animal model development. Supervises research diagnostic technicians. *Primary Duties & Responsibilities* · Provide gross and microscopic veterinary pathology services for research animals. Diagnose disease in animals by necropsy and appropriate laboratory testing. · Read studies, consult, author comprehensive pathology narrative reports detailing all gross, microscopic, and diagnostic findings, conduct pathological and diagnostic assessments for the rodent sentinel program and for diagnosis of spontaneous clinical cases. · Consult with researchers and veterinary staff to provide pathology and diagnostic support as requested. Interpret experimental results and consult with the research staff for the design and implementation of experiments, including phenotyping genetically engineered mice. · Supervise necropsies and diagnostic assays involving a wide variety of laboratory animals and provide supervision and scientific guidance to diagnostic lab technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. · Perform other duties as assigned. *Preferred Qualifications* · Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP) or the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) · Three or more years of relevant experience. · Proficient computer skills. · Eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Missouri. · Accreditation by the USDA. *Critical Skills* · Ability to perform necropsy, evaluate histopathology slides, and write necropsy reports suitable for research or regulatory purposes. · Ability to evaluate microbiology, serology, PCR, clinical chemistry, diagnostic bloodwork, and other diagnostic test results. · Broad knowledge of laboratory animal health/medicine, diagnostics, pathology, treatment, surgical procedures, and clinical care of a wide variety of research animal species. · Demonstrated decision making skills with ability to work meeting goals and deadlines. · Ability to work collaboratively with principal investigators, research staff, veterinary staff, veterinary technicians and husbandry staff. · Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and organization skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the DCM and research staff. · Proficiency, knowledge and experience with computers and Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Outlook, Excel, Access, etc. · Ability to work required occasional after hours, weekend, and holidays for coverage for urgent pathology cases. *Minimum Requirements* DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA Council on Education accredited veterinary college or school. *Pre-Employment Screening* All external candidates receiving an offer for employment will be required to submit to pre-employment screening for this position. *Clinical Track Faculty Position in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology* The Department of Veterinary Biosciences <https://vet.osu.edu/biosciences> (VBS), College of Veterinary Medicine <https://vet.osu.edu/> (CVM) at The Ohio State University <https://www.osu.edu/> (OSU), is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time clinical track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor-Clinical. Responsibilities: 1. Diagnostic service: The faculty member will participate in the autopsy and surgical biopsy services of the college’s Applied Pathology service. Service duties include: performing standard post-mortem examinations as well as forensic and legal post-mortems; serving as senior pathologist for the biopsy service, and supervising anatomic pathology residents and veterinary students. 2. Teaching: The faculty member will participate in clinical training of veterinary students as part of the senior student rotation in Applied Pathology and pathology residents in the Combined Anatomic Pathology Residency/PhD Graduate Training Program. Didactic teaching responsibilities will include participation in the professional veterinary medical curriculum and in the courses provided to pathology residents in the Combined Program. 3. Research and scholarly activity: The faculty member will contribute to collaborative research and scholarly activity synergistic with the College’s research, teaching, and clinical service missions. Qualifications: Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) from an AVMA-accredited or equivalent institution and be board certified or board eligible in anatomic pathology by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or the European College of Veterinary Pathology. A PhD or other advanced training in anatomic pathology is highly desirable. The successful applicant must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, prioritize collegiality, and demonstrate effectiveness in teamwork. The Department of Pathobiological Sciences at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine seeks applications a *Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist* for a clinical-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have a teaching role in the veterinary professional and PBS graduate curriculum, with emphasis in pathology (e.g., general pathology and systemic anatomic pathology) and a significant role in the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (LADDL) diagnostic activity including necropsies and biopsies. Open Faculty Position – Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Texas Biomed) is seeking to increase its expertise in Anatomic Pathology to meet the growing demand for this discipline in rodent and Non-human primate (NHP) research ( https://www.txbiomed.org/research/) Successful faculty candidates will be expected to synergize with faculty and staff in existing Programs to foster Texas Biomed’s efforts to become national/international leaders in infectious disease research, including research on susceptible populations. Texas Biomed is a free standing, private nonprofit research institute. It supports BSL2, BSL3 and BSL4 programs with unparalleled resources, and is the host institution of the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC), one of the seven National Primate Research Centers supported by NIH in the U.S. Texas Biomed seeks to recruit an Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist for a faculty position at any rank.
