The successful candidate will have shared duties between UA-CVM and the Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AVDL). The Plant and Animal Health Branch consists of three key program areas: the Animal Health Centre, the Plant Health Unit, and the Business Unit. The Animal Health Centre is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to the international ISO/IEC 17025 standard and is an American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians accredited provincial veterinary diagnostic laboratory that provides world class diagnostic services to protect the health of all animals in B.C. in support of disease prevention, control, and eradication. The Animal Health Centre protects human health with the timely and accurate diagnosis of zoonotic diseases that transmit from animals to humans, in both the public health and the food safety sectors. The Animal Health Centre supports the principles of One Health and provides a strong collaborative work environment with a focus on continuous learning and collegial support. This position provides leadership in the specialized field of veterinary diagnostic pathology, specifically as it applies to fish species. Job Requirements: * Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or an equivalent degree, from a university of recognized standing, and relevant experience may also be considered. Diagnostic Pathologist Thompson Bishop Sparks State Diagnostic Laboratory | Auburn, Alabama The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is seeking applications for a veterinary anatomic pathologist at Thompson Bishop Sparks State Diagnostic Laboratory. Thompson Bishop Sparks State Diagnostic Laboratory is the central reference laboratory in state animal diagnostic laboratory system that includes branch laboratories in Boaz, Elba, and Hanceville. Laboratories provide animal disease diagnostic and regulatory testing for submitting veterinarians and private owners. The laboratory is located on the campus of the Auburn University, with close partnership with the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Job Responsibilities The focus of this position is contributing to the biopsy service, histopathology evaluations for branch/satellite laboratory cases, and performing necropsy and histopathology examinations for the necropsy service. The non-avian caseload will primarily include mammalian submissions and zoo and exotic cases. There is opportunity to participate in the avian diagnostic service. The pathologist is responsible for conducting necropsy and histopathology evaluations, communicating with clients orally and in writing, interpreting test results, contributing to the weekend and holiday necropsy service by rotating with other pathologists, staff training and supervision, and participation in the laboratory Quality Management system. Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA recognized school or college of veterinary medicine, and U.S. citizenship status. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) is preferred, or board eligibility for phase II of the ACVP examination. The Wildlife Disease Association and the Davis-Thompson Foundation are excited to offer a forensic science full day pre-meeting workshop prior to the 2023 WDA meeting in Athens, Georgia on Saturday, July 29. This workshop will offer training in a number of critical aspects of forensic investigation, particularly those relevant to wildlife species. The content will be delivered through a series of seminar presentations as well as discussions of actual forensic cases involving wildlife. Topics include chain of custody and security of samples, reporting, timing of death, species identification, documenting method of death, and expert witness testimony. Fantastic speakers! Free online Veterinary Ocular Pathology Atlas

Greetings everyone, The COPLOW lab is proud to announce we have just launched the Veterinary Ocular Pathology Atlas (VOPA). The VOPA is a *FREE* online histopathology atlas with dozens of veterinary ocular pathology cases from the COPLOW lab containing clinical information, gross images, and fully annotated scanned (APERIO) slides. The VOPA project was spearheaded by Dr. Ryan Taylor (former COPLOW pathologist, now anatomic pathology faculty at Cornell University) and through a partnership between COPLOW and VetDermPath Atlas, particularly Dr. David Gardiner (DACVP) and Drs. Bernstein and Whitley. Our hope is that the Atlas will be an ever-expanding resource of study material for those interested in ocular pathology, from vet students to board certified pathologists and ophthalmologists. *Faculty Position in Diagnostic Pathology* - The College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University, invites applications for a non-tenure track assistant/associate/full professor in Veterinary Pathology. The position is in the Mississippi Veterinary Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (MVRDL) in Pearl, MS. The MVRDL is a part of the AAVLD fully accredited Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System which has laboratories at 3 sites. Responsibilities include participation in necropsy, biopsy, cytology, and poultry histopathology services of the MVRDL. Accessions to the MVRDL pathology service include submissions by veterinarians, producers, and the public from domestic animals and wildlife/exotic species. Interaction and consultation with veterinarians and producers is required. Participation in the college's graduate, professional, and undergraduate teaching programs is a minor responsibility and may be accomplished by participation in M.S. and Ph.D. graduate student committees, providing lectures in team taught courses, and instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students as part of their rotations through the laboratory. Opportunities exist within the college to participate in collaborative projects and case studies. The successful candidate will work directly with pathology faculty and other faculty in MVRDL and with poultry veterinarians in the Poultry Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (PRDL). University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate activities are required. Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent with completion of an anatomic pathology residency and board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or the European College of Veterinary Pathologists. Diagnostic experience in poultry histopathology and wildlife/exotic species pathology is desired. Collegiality and excellent communication skills is required. The ability to attain licensure (faculty or traditional licensure) in Mississippi is required. Descriptive Veterinary Pathology registration is OPEN!

Look, I'm going to be real with you, folks. Whether you are in a commercial diagnostic pathology lab, an academic institution, a drug discovery team, or a CRO, being able to recognize and describe gross, microscopic, and ultrastructural findings and interpret IHC/ISH and PCR has always mattered, matters now, and will always matter. (At least until ChatGPT starts writing our reports!) The 2023 in-person Descriptive Veterinary Pathology course is a fantastic opportunity to separate yourself from your work responsibilities for a week, focus completely on your own education, and make friends you will have for a lifetime. Is it more expensive and logistically challenging to travel? Yes. Is the experience of taking this one precious week to focus only on your learning and not be distracted by 100 other things worth it? YES!! Please join us as we return to in-person format for the Descriptive Veterinary Pathology course at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to many hours of lectures by Drs. Linden Craig, Patty Pesavento, and myself, as well as FIVE mock tests including multiple-choice and slide descriptions, registration includes coffee breaks and a catered lunch each day. On Wednesday evening we have a social hour where you can get to know your fellow participants and hang out with the instructors and local hosts. Minneapolis/St. Paul is usually gorgeous in the summer, with tons of great restaurants and breweries! The schedule will run Wednesday to Sunday rather than Monday through Friday, in an effort to help people minimize the number of days off they need to negotiate. Please join us!
