*Comparative Pathology Fellowship* *School of Veterinary Medicine* *University of California, Davis* The *Comparative Pathology Laboratory <https://cpl.ucdavis.edu/>* and the *California National Primate Center <https://cnprc.ucdavis.edu/>* are pleased to offer a *1-year fellowship* in Comparative Pathology, through the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. The CPL is a veterinary medical diagnostic laboratory and research core serving the university and external scientific community by providing pathology support for basic and translational research and fulfilling the clinical and health surveillance requirements inherent to the use of animals in research. The CNPRC is part of the NIH-supported system of primate centers leading global interdisciplinary biomedical research efforts. Dear colleagues Welcome to the June issue of the Davis-Thompson Foundation newsletter, with the compliments, as usual, of our outstanding managing editors Javier Asin and Jeann Leal. Please peruse these pages to find information about the many training opportunities around the world, in several languages. While CLIIC is starting next week, keep in mind that POLA is coming soon and registration is still open. We keep working hard in the design of our Foundations of Pathology course. These are the words of President Koehler about it: "We are continuing to work on our newest course, Foundations of Pathology. This course, which we highly recommend for first-year residents, will be similar to the previous Descriptive Veterinary Pathology course but will be aimed at those just beginning their journey. We want to get you off to a great start by sharing with you our accumulated knowledge about how to evaluate, interpret, and describe gross, microscopic, and ultrastructural lesions, plus how to properly interpret IHC, ISH, and molecular testing. We will have discussions about how to structure study during your residency, available resources, and help keep you from making mistakes we have seen people make. We believe this course will create a strong foundation on which you can build, in whatever residency program you are in. The course will include a virtual component and an in-person component at the annual ACVP meeting. A detailed course schedule and registration link will be coming in the next few weeks so check the website frequently!" Also new this year is the "Just in Time Mock Exams", two full days of mock exams dedicated to aspiring veterinary anatomic pathologists, presented by a great team of experienced pathologists. Finally, if you are doing necropsies of racehorses, consider attending the 3-day Racehorse Necropsy Workshop, a hands-on course, this year co-sponsored by the Horse Integrity and Safety Authority, the organization that is regulating horse racing in the US. Together, we are working to advance the health and welfare of companion animals throughout the world and to speak on behalf of companion animal veterinarians globally. Much of our work is delivered through our clinical committees and initiatives, which lead global thinking and provide continuing education (CE) to our membership. To enhance our work, we are seeking a Veterinary Pathologist with experience and expertise in oncologic pathology to join our Oncology Committee (WOC). Note that the working language of WSAVA is English. Committee members, all volunteers and experts in their field from around the world, work together to develop WSAVA Global Guidelines, information, tools, and other educational resources to support companion animal veterinarians. VSPO/WSC wholeslides are back online!

From the Joint Pathology Center - We are happy to announce that the wholeslide server for VSPO/WSC is provisionally back up! Following the server crash, we have reconstituted the wholeslide data and reinstalled the Leica ESlide manager application, and made the appropriate links again - so the VSPO/WSC wholeslides are viewable again. That being said, this install of the server appears to be pretty glitchy. We are constantly monitoring it, but now have the ability to remotely restart servers when this application freezes...so that is something that may help prevent significant downtime in the future.
