2025 Residency Training in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology START DATE September 1, 2025 Residency Training in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. The Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, has one position for residency training in veterinary anatomic pathology beginning September 1, 2025 or as soon as possible. Individuals that have a year or more of anatomic pathology training, or those that have already trained in clinical pathology are also strongly encouraged to apply. The residency program consists of three years of training (or, possibly, two years for an individual with prior pathology experience) based on diagnostic casework from the UF Veterinary Hospitals and the private sector, as well as numerous training seminars. Training is currently provided by ten board-certified faculty pathologists with a variety of diagnostic and research interests including dermatopathology, aquatics/exotics/wildlife/zoo pathology, forensic pathology, oncologic pathology, infectious diseases, and molecular pathology. Residency training includes in-depth instruction on the diseases of horses, dogs, cats, aquatic/zoo/wildlife/non-domestic species, and food animals. The focus is on preparing residents to pass the American College of Veterinary Pathologists' certification examinations and for a career in veterinary pathology. The current starting salary is $56,000. A supplemental yearly stipend is provided for professional development, and additional funding may be available for research projects and travel on a competitively-selected basis.
