The Davis-Thompson Foundation is delighted to announce that Dr Claudio Barros, a legend in the field of veterinary pathology, will be the new Editor In Chief of the Diagnostic Exercises of the Davis Thompson Foundation and the Latin Comparative Pathology Group. Dr. Barros will take over for Dr Vinicius (Vini) Carreira who served in this role brilliantly for 10+ years and who, together with the Editorial Board, took the DE to the high level and reputation they enjoy today all over the world. Thank you Vini!!
Dr. Barros graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil, in 1969. He then received his PhD in Veterinary Pathology at Colorado State University in 1980, and did a Post-Doctorate at the Veterinary Pathology Institute of Justus Liebig Universität Giessen, Germany, in 1984. He was a Professor of Pathology at the Federal University of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (1971-2014), and Visiting Professor at Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil (2014-2020). Amongst his many accolades, Claudio was a Member of the Consulting Scientific Committee for Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and a member of the Brazilian College of Animal Pathology. He is an Emeritus Member of the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Pathology and Honorary Member of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. He was the Editor in Chief of “Pesquisa Veterinária Brasileira” (Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research) for many years. He was the recipient of the Paulo Dacorso Filho award, 2016 edition, conferred by the Federal Council of Veterinary Medicine of Brazil. Claudio has been a teacher and mentor of many generations of Brazilian pathologists and he is one of the greatest pathologists in Latin America and the world. Welcome Claudio!!!
