The Foundation is pleased to present another Free Friday Seminar on 17 July 2020, at 1200PM EDT. This lecture - "Tuberculosis: Everyone just has to be different" - will be presented by Kaori Sakamoto, DVM, PhD, DACVP, Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

This hour-long seminar will discuss comparative models for tuberculosis pathology, including both natural and experimental infections, with an emphasis on lesion similarities and differences between these species and humans.

Dr. Sakamoto received her  Masters in Fish Physiology and DVM at North Carolina State University. Her  anatomic pathology training was at Purdue University.She then went to Cornell University, where I studied tuberculosis immunology for her PhD. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine whose research focuses on early interactions between Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the macrophage, as well as mycobacterial-helminth co-infections.
