Dear colleagues

Welcome to the April issue of the Davis/Thompson Foundation Newsletter, prepared as usual by our fantastic editors Stephanie Shrader, Javier Asin and Jeann Leal.

This month, in addition to our already traditional outstanding material on training opportunities and much more, we are delighted to share with you Dr Grant Maxie’s editorial on “Clarity of expression in scientific writing”. Dr Maxie is a real giant in the world of veterinary pathology.  This masterpiece is a product of his many years of experience as an editor, including, amongst others, publications such as Jubb, Kennedy and Palmer’s Pathology of Domestic Animals (now on its 6th Edition), The Canadian Veterinary Journal and The Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation. What we have here is a cutting-edge editorial, and anybody involved in scientific writing will benefit from this article, now and for a very long time to come. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Maxie’s for his generous contribution!

We are also extremely proud to share with you the news that our very own Dr Bruce Williams, former President and CEO, and current Treasurer of the Davis Thompson Foundation, was recently awarded the Dean's Distinguished Service Award from The University of Georgia, his Alma Mater. Bruce was recognized, amongst other accolades, for his tireless training of young pathologists all over the world. What a wonderful achievement. Congratulations Bruce!

Last but not least, April is National Volunteer Month in the USA. As everybody knows, the Davis Thompson Foundation, is a 100% volunteer organization that relies exclusively on many great volunteers to provide the outstanding training that veterinarians all over the world enjoy on a daily basis. We would not be able to function without our fantastic volunteers. If you have the opportunity to interact with one of our volunteers today (or any day during the year), please thank them for their fantastic and selfless contribution. We send our heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers on behalf of the Foundation.

Enjoy!
