
*Clinical-Track Faculty Position* *Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology Department of Veterinary Pathobiology* *College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences* *Texas A&M University* The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS), Texas A&M University (TAMU) is seeking a motivated individual for a full-time faculty position in veterinary anatomic pathology. This appointment may be at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be board certified or eligible in anatomic pathology by the ACVP or the ECVP. A PhD or other advanced training in anatomic pathology is desired, but not required. The academic professional track faculty hire will devote approximately 50% effort to diagnostic service, 20%-25% to teaching, 15%-20% to scholarly activities, and 10% to academic citizenship (service). 1. Diagnostic service: The faculty member will share service responsibilities with the team of anatomic pathologists. An important part of the diagnostic service will involve evaluation of skin biopsies from the Dermatopathology Specialty Service. Candidates with interest and/or established experience in dermatopathology are especially encouraged to apply; however, training can be provided to fulfill this role. Additonal service duties include partipation in the necropsy and biopsy services. 2. Teaching: The faculty member will participate in clinical training of pathology residents and veterinary students. Didactic teaching responsibilities will include participation in the professional veterinary medical curriculum and in the courses provided to the pathology residents. The faculty member should be an effective teacher, able to work with persons from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. The development of innovative instructional delivery is encouraged and valued. 3. Scholarly activity and academic citizenship: The faculty member will contribute to collaborative research and scholarly activity that is synergistic with the College’s research, teaching, and clinical service missions. For individuals with the appropriate interests and expertise, engagement in independent, clinically oriented research is encouraged. Promotion of departmental camaraderie and collegiality through participation in scholastic service is expected, in support of academic citizenship. The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology includes over 50 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and scholarly interests. Research strengths in the college include infectious diseases and biodefense, epidemiology and public health, biomedical genomics, cardiovascular sciences, neuroscience, reproductive biology, toxicology, and oncology. Collaborative research activity is available via affiliations with a variety of neighboring institutions, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Heart Institute, University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory.
