International book shipments to Brazil and Italy
The Foundation is excited at the response to publication of the 5th Fascicle in the series of Tumors of Domestic Animals - Gastrointestinal Tumors. We do want to address some issues in shipping books to two countries - Italy and Brazil. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been unable to get books to their destination in these two countries. When shipped to Italy or Brazil, they appear to be not clearing customs. Some are returned, and some not, and in many cases, are returned in unsellable condition (whereupon we have to dump them.) This means the Foundation is out the price of shipping and the price of the damaged books). At this time, we will only fill orders that are sent to a university address (Department of Pathology, diagnostic laboratory, etc.) and only for a single book. If we are successful with a single book shipment, we will be happy to send followup orders of additional books to that address (realizing that there are no guarantees - but shipping to home addresses appears to not be working in any instance.) We will also provide a tracking number to the purchaser so that they can better track the books. We understand and share the frustration of anyone who has unsuccessfully tried to purchase books in these countries. We hoe that you understand that the Foundation has no control over a) the ultimate delivery of these books - our control ends once the books are handed over to the USPS or Federal Express at which time we pay for their shipment, and b) we have no control over the cost of shipping - we pay the shipping price that you are given by the website when we take the books to the post. We aren't making any money off of shipping (when you factor in the handling costs of packing the books and taking them to the shipper, we actually lose a bit on the deal.) We heartily appreciate the efforts of folks in these countries who are thinking outside the box on this (shipping to Aunt Sadie elsewhere in Europe or South America where delivery is a bit more robust, coordinating delivery with attendance at a meeting elsewhere, etc.) we are certainly willing to work with you on this. bruce
