The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks a veterinary anatomic pathologist to join the faculty of the Department of Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology. He or she will join 4 ACVP-boarded anatomic pathology faculty and 6 post-doctoral pathology trainees to provide diagnostic and experimental pathology support for a wide variety of animal model-based research programs. The successful applicant will direct the comparative pathology service in support of JHU Research Animal Resources (RAR) and researchers at Johns Hopkins University campuses in Baltimore. The diagnostic pathology service provides necropsy and biopsy support to RAR for a wide variety of laboratory animal species, including rodents, nonhuman primates (SPF rhesus and pigtailed macaques, marmosets, and baboons), mini pigs, rabbits, dogs, ferrets, zebrafish, and amphibians. In this position, the faculty member will work closely with clinical laboratory animal veterinarians to coordinate communication and oversee diagnostic submissions. The successful applicant will also help direct our robust, longstanding anatomic and comparative pathology training program. The faculty member will provide experimental pathology support to JHU investigators. employing a wide range of translational animal models, including cutting edge vascularized composite allograft transplantation, novel interventional imaging, nanoparticle-mediated therapeutics, biomechanical implants, and infectious disease studies including those based in ABSL-3 facilities. He or she will closely collaborate with JHU investigators to contribute pathology expertise to multidisciplinary studies, applying innovative integrated molecular, digital, and computational pathology approaches. Independent research is also encouraged. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as teaching experience. Requirements include a license to practice veterinary medicine in the US. Applicants should have experience in laboratory animal diagnostic pathology, the ability to build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with investigators, and leadership experience. Preference will be given to candidates who hold ACVP or ECVP board certification in veterinary anatomic pathology and have completed PhD training.
