DISCOVER Summer Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center

Our department provides the DISCOVER program, a 10-week summer biomedical research and clinical shadowing fellowship for the first and second-year veterinary students and undergraduates/pre-vets. The program provides opportunity for the students to engage in biomedical research and explore career paths in comparative medicine and pathology. Application will be acceptable until 1/17/2024. Here is a brief overview of the program: https://www.mdanderson.org/education-training/research-training/early-career... *D*riving *I*nnovation in *SC*ience through *O*pportunities for *V* eterinary *E*ngagement in *R*esearch *Program Description:* The DISCOVER Program is a 10-week summer biomedical research and clinical shadowing fellowship in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (DVMS) at MD Anderson Cancer Center. DISCOVER provides opportunities for pre-veterinary undergraduates and veterinary medical students to engage in biomedical research and explore career paths in comparative medicine and pathology while under the guidance of a faculty mentor in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment. *Eligibility*: The DISCOVER Program is designed for veterinary medical students in their first or second years of veterinary school as well as undergraduates at any level. Limited positions are available and veterinary medical students are given first priority. Pre-veterinary undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to apply for all summer undergraduate research programs for which they are eligible on the Summer Experience site. *Stipend:* A stipend of $6,800 will be provided for the 10-week program.
