Postdoctoral position in Aquatic Animal Health available at Michigan State University

*Research Associate Position* *Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA* *Deadline for application: 29 June, 2021* (or until filled) A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Gorgoglione's Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory at Michigan State University. The lab focuses on studying immunopathological processes in fish, comparing infection patterns in farmed and wild fish, and developing new diagnostic methods for fish pathogens. The lab is shared between the Dept. of Pathobiology & Diagnostic Investigation of the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Dept. of Fisheries & Wildlife of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The candidate should have experience and interest for working with fish and *in vitro* techniques using fish cell lines, including: - Molecular biology techniques, sequencing - Bioinformatics and statistical analysis - Pathogen and cell culture techniques, basic virology methods - Collection and processing of tissue samples from fish - Histological analysis *Minimum Requirements* Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, or other Biological or Veterinary Sciences field related to fish infectious diseases or fish immunology. A veterinary degree or equivalent is desired but not a requirement. Required at least one first-authored publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals (Q1). The candidate should have good ability to work independently on challenging and innovative research; excellent written and oral skills (as demonstrated by prior publications/meeting presentations); good time management skills; good organizational and interpersonal skills; positive attitude for interacting with students (either at undergraduate and postgraduate level) and collaborators; strong track record of scientific productivity. The candidate will have the primary responsibility of experimental design, performing experiments, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation, writing scientific publications and funding applications such as fellowships, and to present results at national and international scientific meetings. The candidate is expected to operate and maintain scientific instruments, maintaining lab notebook and protocols. *Required Application Materials* Applications should be submitted through MSU Careers website.
