Diagnostic Pathologist *Washington State University: College of Veterinary Medicine: Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory* Location: Pullman, Washington Open Date: July 8, 2022 Applicant Screening Date: July 25, 2022 Position Description: The Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory located in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University is seeking a *Diagnostic Pathologist *for a one-year temporary position. The responsibilities of the *Diagnostic Pathologist *include necropsy, histopathology, requesting and interpreting bacteriology, virology, toxicology tests, other appropriate diagnostic assays along with case coordination and communication with referring veterinarians, owners and other animal health professionals. The above responsibilities are organized into days assigned either as a consulting pathologist, senior (faculty) necropsy pathologist, and surgical biopsy pathologist for mail-in/drop off accessions and weekend rotation to be shared with all other WADDL/VMP faculty pathologists. The position requires strong diagnostic capabilities across the domestic mammalian and avian species, including effective communication with users of WADDL (referring clinicians, veterinary clinical faculty and staff, veterinary students, owners, producers). Other responsibilities will include participation with other pathology faculty in teaching Diagnostics Block (VM 656) to 4th year DVM students, and Advanced Diagnostic Pathology (Vpa 542) and Anatomic Pathology Seminar (Vpa 592) to post-DVM anatomic pathology graduate students. Other scholarly activity is encouraged as time permits and may include more in-depth investigation of diagnostic laboratory accessions, test/ assay development, collaborative research with College of Veterinary Medicine faculty, and communication of new information through publication in refereed professional journals. This opportunity is within a supportive learning environment with 10 ACVP boarded pathologists, an ACVM boarded microbiologist, an ACVM boarded parasitologist, and ABVT boarded toxicologist housed in a new 61,000 sq ft, state of the art diagnostic facility completed in 2021. Qualifications: Candidates must hold a DVM from an AVMA accredited university and successfully have completed a 3-year residency in veterinary anatomic pathology.
