Davis-Thompson Foundation Newsletter February 2024

Dear colleagues Welcome to the February 2024 issue of the Davis Thompson Newsletter prepared by our outstanding managing editors, Javier Asin and Jeann Leal. This issue comes, as usual, with myriad information on all our training activities around the globe, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. By the time you receive these pages, the first of the Foundation's "Big 4", our 2024 General Pathology Review Course, will be in full swing and scheduled to finish on February the 8th with a special mock exam. This course is being offered fully online. Registration for the other three of the "Big 4" (CLIIC, POLA and Descriptive Pathology Course) will open soon. Keep an eye out for them. Starting this month, we will be featuring a case of the Western Round Robin, a slide conference that has been running for 30+ years among veterinary diagnostic laboratories. This year, for the first time, the conference is being held digitally and the slides submitted by the participating laboratories are uploaded to Noah's slidebox. Thanks a lot to all the participants! You can check the conference in the website (https://davisthompsonfoundation.org/wsi_archive/?wdt_column_filter[2]=West%20Coast%20Round%20Robin<https://davisthompsonfoundation.org/wsi_archive/?wdt_column_filter%5b2%5d=West%20Coast%20Round%20Robin>) and in the following pages. We are very proud to announce the free online publication of two atlases of Histopathology and Gross pathology, respectively, of equine abortion and reproductive loss. These two masterpieces were produced by a multidisciplinary team of equine clinicians, epidemiologists and pathologists in Australia. Look them up in the E-Books section of our website or follow this link: https://davisthompsonfoundation.org/equine-abortion-ebook-demo/ Also, look at the announcement of the "Archivo Veterinario del Este" a great compilation of cases put together by Dr Fernando Dutra in Uruguay. As we explained in previous editions, this document is in Spanish, but for those who are not familiar with this language, the outstanding images speak volumes in the international "language of pathology". Last but not least, I want to highlight again our great Volunteer Appreciation Campaign that started last year and will continue for the foreseeable future. Thank you Rafaela De Negri for the great job you are doing organizing this campaign! All the activities of the Foundation are done by volunteers, who are the pillars of our organization. Please thank them warmly any time you have the pleasure to interact with them. Looking forward to seeing everyone in one of our seminars. Francisco Uzal, DVM, MSc, PhD, Dipl.
