This week's Free Foundation Seminars

It's a GREAT week for free seminars from the Davis-Thompson Foundation! Tomorrow, 7 September is the first of our two-part FREE all-day seminar on Tumor Standardization, co-sponsored with the Veterinary Cancer Guidelines and Protocols Group and the American College of Pathologists. In the first day seminar, the speakers will address important issues in tumor diagnostics and grading including, the importance of standardization, proper interpretation of mitotic figures and calculating mitotic counts, evaluating necrosis in tumors, breaking down the melanoma protocol, and computational aspects of tumor grading. All participants will receive a certificate for 8 hours of RACE CE. Before the seminar starts, try your hand at evaluating mitotic figures (there's more to it than meets the eye) at: https://davisthompsonfoundation.org/mitotic-figure-quiz/ To register for this seminar, please visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ikL7WMYoR363sGpse-MkKQ And on Friday, 10 September, spent two hours at our newest diversity seminar: Voices in Pathology: LGBTQ+. This seminar features another esteemed panel of colleagues who are generously willing to share their career and life experiences, advice, wisdom, passions, and challenges as members of the LGBTQ+ community in our profession. Here at the Foundation we are full of pride in our colleagues, and not just in June when it’s trendy to slap a rainbow on everything (although more rainbows totes makes the world a better place). So whether you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community yourself, straight, ace, questioning, whatever, it’s a big tent and all are welcome to come listen and learn from our great panelists: they’re here, they’re queer, and most importantly they rock the path-o-sphere! LGBT? LGBTQ? LGBTQ+? LGBTQIA+? Feel like you need a little primer on terminology in advance of the seminar? Check out https://thesafezoneproject.com/resources/vocabulary/ Do you know the significance of the Stonewall Inn? Or who Ma Rainey, Marsha P. Johnson, and Harvey Milk are? Check out this brief history timeline of struggles and triumphs: https://www.glsen.org/sites/default/files/LGBTQ-History-Timeline-References.... Registration is free but required. Due to the personal nature of these seminars, they are not being recorded and can only be attended live.
