I want to echo Bruce’s comments and thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your willingness to lend your time and talents to the Foundation.  Yes, as he said, YOUR foundation.  Without all of our volunteers, this cart doesn’t roll!  Things have changed a lot in the last year and a half, with more exciting things to come, and all of it with the singular goal of enhancing veterinary pathology education for all for the benefit of animal and human health.  Some of the jobs aren’t glamorous, but they are so necessary and we are immensely grateful to all those who work behind the scenes.  I’m looking forward to meeting you all virtually at the next webinar committee meeting, and someday soon having a drink with you at an in-person meeting or course!

Cheers,

Jey

Hello to all of the new volunteers, and welcome aboard!

Thank you to everyone for taking an interest and helping out with YOUR Foundation.  I know that all of you have marveled at the changes that the Foundation has undergone in the last 18 months in terms of embracing the digital distribution of education, and now with an enhanced social media presence and a fully new website coming this summer, I am excited that all of you will be part of the Foundation's advancement (I would say Renaissance but from where I sit, we never had a dark age).

But it is a highly exciting time, and we wouldn't be enjoying it if it weren't for new and energized  volunteers like yourself.   While Paco and I have been around for a while, and Jey has been teaching the descriptive course for almost a decase and directing it for 5 years, many of the other people you are working with, like Rachel and Rafa, have been with the Foundation less than two years  - and they run the most important divisions in the Foundation today.

I know you all have ideas of what the Foundation can do - how we can expand, reach more people both young and old, draw other specialties into the fold, and make the Foundation a more exciting place to be than we are now, and I encourage you to make your ideas known.  Everything we are doing now started as a germ of an idea in someone's head, and we have gotten to where we are not fully fledged , but with a lot of trial and error.   So don't be shy, and who knows, one of you may even be on the Foundation's Board of Directors in a couple of years, and one day may even be the President, the CEO, or the obviously most important person of all, the Chief Financial Officer!

All the best, and I look forward to working with each of you,

Bruce Williams

Chief Financial Officer

Hi everyone,

We have some BIG changes happening now or in a near future, so here we go:

1. Please welcome our NEW VOLUNTEERS (included in this listserv)! 😄🎉

    • Diana Paola Nuñez (Peru): compilation of the former speakers' information into the new spreadsheet system + moderation in future webinars
    • Grethell Mabel (Peru): speakers' new spreadsheet system
    • Luan Cleber Henker (Brazil): speakers' new spreadsheet system + moderation in future webinars + webinar Zoom data stats and organization
    • Fábio Ranyeri (Brazil):  speakers' new spreadsheet system + moderation in future webinars + artwork and team-up with Jeann
    • Peres Badial (from Brazil, but currently in the US): webinar Zoom data stats and organization
    • Ravindran Ramanathan (India): webinar Zoom data stats and organization
    • Peter Mark Eguia (Hong Kong): webinar Zoom data stats and organization + moderation in future webinars
    • Javaria Mashkoor (Pakistan): artwork for Newsletter
    • Randi Gold (US):  artwork for Newsletter and team-up with Jeann
  • Some of our new volunteers will team up with other members and engage in collaborative or independent projects in the meantime
    • We'll keep track of the status of the projects and move to other tasks when appropriate
  • New volunteers: you will all receive an invite for the Foundation's account in Slack shortly

2. The Foundation has revamped logo, banner, certificate templates, and social media names 🔥

  • Make sure you update those in messages to be sent out to attendees/registrants

3. Webinar videos older than 6 months to be "removed" from YouTube's channel 📽

  • This was definitely not an easy discussion, but the board of directors has come to the decision of making the videos of webinar older than 6 months PRIVATE on YT.
    • There are many reasons supporting this decision, but the main goals were to avoid information getting outdated and "exhausting the system" (i.e., that way we create more opportunities for future webinars with similar, perhaps more updated, topics and not get too repetitive).
    •  We know many of those videos were advertised as "indefinitely", so we will launch a 1-month notice on social media and listserv to the community.
    • Once the deadline is up, we'll have to edit the texts in some of them to replace the "indefinitely" part.

4. G suite accounts were created and will be employed soon 💌

  • We will have 3 emails for hosts (e.g., host.1@davisthompsonfoundation.org) / 2 emails for certificate sending / 1 for survey evaluation / 4 for moderators (subject to change)
  • That way, volunteers assigned to the respective tasks will all have the same access via shared password to the email.
  • We will experiment with these addresses shortly and share the info with the assigned volunteers in Slack.

5. Please indicate your availability for the next monthly Webinar Committee Meeting HERE🗨

  • In this meeting, we will hopefully properly introduce the new volunteers to the entire group, discuss the progress of projects, and other topics (please send me topics you'd like to bring to everyone's attention).
  • If you haven’t used When2Meet, all you need to do is highlight in green your availability in the calendar grid. Make sure you match it with your time zone as well.

Cheers!

Rachel
