Hello everyone! Since I missed the first zoom meeting, Bruce suggested I introduce myself. On the professional side: UNC-Chapel Hill undergraduate NCSU-CVM for DVM and residency completed 2001 Since 2003 I have been the pathologist at the NC Zoo and have filled out my time with a couple years doing alternative species tox path at ILS (fish, frogs, avian), and 5 years at NCSU as a teaching instructor and covering most of the poultry pathology service. I joined Dr. Tara Harrison last year as the pathologist for the Exotic Species Cancer Alliance and spend more time thinking about how to classify neoplasia than I would have thought possible. I am also an "EAAG" which is a terrible term for "exam assembly and administration group" meaning I help put the ACVP exam together and grade histopath. My main area of interest is avian and herp species, but practically speaking, any species at the NC Zoo. After chasing 3 boys around for several years, I finally took the plunge and got my board certification in 2010. My children think of that year as the time Mommy went missing but they exaggerate to gain sympathy and material gain. For fun not involving the dead, I garden (LOVE roses and peonies), do needlepoint, exercise including running (slowly) and sometimes play the piano (badly). I have one insanely spoiled old cat. I look forward to working with all of you and eventually meeting everyone in person! Brigid Troan
