I had an idea for a Friday lecture on the general pathology of TB and have lined up a potential speaker (Dr. Kaori Sakamoto at UGA). Is there an information sheet that I can give her on expectations, and how do I get her scheduled once she agrees? Brigid Troan PS I would suggest that we put some documents together on the shared space that we can give potential speakers as well as a running-a-zoom-meeting for people like me :-)

That sounds great! I agree, some sort of written sop for running the meetings would be helpful for us newbies. I can share our university document on how to use Zoom as a starting point if you wish. Oh dear, I am so used to switching back and forth between French and English that I had not realized language would be a problem here… Anyways, here is the document, but we would have to redo the whole thing, as it is all in French, including the Zoom menus… Sorry, I had good intent. I also realized, with Will’s email, that I should have presented myself, so I included my whole signature below, just in case you ever need my address or phone. I am professor at Université de Montréal, where I did my DVM and residency. We have a great residency program here, but it’s all in French… I have a PhD in pharmacy and worked 3 years for Charles River Laboratories before going back to academia. My tasks there are 1/3 diagnostic, 1/3 research, 1/3 teaching. Diagnostics includes about 1800 biopsies a year, and we share necropsies with the provincial government pathologists (about 2300 per year – so about 10 cases per day). Our main animal species are poultry (provincial pathologists only), swine and bovine followed by all the other domestic species. We usually have a total 2 to 5 residents in anatomic and 2 to 3 in clinical pathology (so 0, 1 or 2 per year), plus some MSc or PhD students, some also doing combined residency-MSc/PhD. My interests are varied and include, amongst others, neonatal/juvenile development, toxicology and bees. I would also like to develop skills in AI some day, as we have a high-throughput Aperio scanner, but no money for an AI module yet… I am usually at ease with technology and a fast learner, so I’m the designated “superuser” for Zoom, digital imaging and a couple other things in my group. My schedule is usually hectic, so planning a meeting often has to be with more than 2 weeks notice to fit somewhere in mine, sorry ;) – a friend of mine says that if you wish something to get done, give it to someone who doesn’t have time, and that typically ends up being me. Oh, and I’m a native French speaker, so bare with me if some things ever get lost in translation. I should mention that I LOVE writing, so I’ll try not to write a novel every time.
