The Department of Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Georgia, invites applications for a twelve-month faculty position in veterinary anatomic pathology. The position can be either clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track with appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful applicant will join a team in the Department of Pathology that includes 22 pathologists (including 5 clinical pathologists), anatomic and clinical pathology residents, research scientists, and graduate students. The Department provides diagnostic service to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the state of Georgia through its surgical pathology and necropsy services. The case load on both of these services is diverse and includes exotics, wildlife, equine, companion and food animal submissions. Departmental centers of research emphasis include pathogenesis of infectious disease in food-producing, avian, wildlife and aquatic animals, molecular diagnostics, genomics and proteomics, tumor pathobiology, soft tissue physiology and repair, and laboratory animal pathology. The department is committed to excellence in teaching that spans undergraduate, professional, graduate, and resident programs. The successful applicant will have responsibilities that include: 1) Providing high quality diagnostic service on necropsy and surgical pathology services. 2) Contributing to instruction of residents, graduate students, veterinary students, and undergraduate students. 3) Supporting the research mission of the department and college through participation in collaborative research projects. Opportunities also exist for developing and leading a productive research laboratory. Specific percentages are flexible and will be based on the candidate’s expertise and interests, and on departmental needs. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree and be board certified or board eligible by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (or equivalent). Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification: Preference will be given to individuals with ACVP board certification, a graduate degree, and 1-2 years experience in diagnostic pathology and instruction.
